Ingredients

  • Frozen garlic Texas toast (thick-sliced, pre-buttered). Look for the kind in the freezer section.
  • Pizza sauce or marinara (about 1–2 tablespoons per slice).
  • Shredded mozzarella (roughly 1/4 cup per slice).
  • Pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional).
  • Veggies like sliced bell peppers, red onion, mushrooms, or black olives (optional, thinly sliced).
  • Grated Parmesan (optional, for extra savoriness).
  • Red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning (optional, for a little heat and aroma).
  • Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish).
  • Nonstick spray or parchment liner (optional, depending on your air fryer basket).

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. A warm basket helps the toast crisp faster.
  • Par-cook the garlic toast: Place frozen slices in the basket in a single layer. Air fry for 2–3 minutes until just starting to crisp but not browned. This prevents soggy centers.
  • Add sauce: Remove the toast and spread 1–2 tablespoons of sauce on each slice. Don’t overdo it—too much sauce can make it soggy.
  • Add cheese and toppings: Sprinkle mozzarella evenly. Add pepperoni or thinly sliced veggies. Keep toppings light so the cheese melts nicely.
  • Air fry to finish: Return the topped toasts to the basket. Cook at 375°F for 4–6 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden.
  • Check doneness: Peek at 4 minutes. Every air fryer runs a little different. If the cheese needs more color, add 1–2 minutes.
  • Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with Parmesan, red pepper flakes, or Italian seasoning. Add fresh basil or parsley. Let cool 1–2 minutes before biting—hot cheese!
