Warm the tortillas. Stack them and microwave for 20–30 seconds, or heat in a dry skillet for 10–15 seconds per side. Warm tortillas roll without tearing.
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). A hot basket helps the tortillas crisp and prevents sticking.
Prep your dogs. Pat hot dogs dry. If you like a little snap, make two shallow diagonal slashes on each hot dog.
This reduces splitting.
Add cheese and extras. Lay a tortilla flat. Sprinkle a line of cheese down the center. Add a few onion or jalapeño slices if using.
Wrap snugly. Place a hot dog over the cheese.
Roll tightly like a taquito, tucking in the edges slightly if your tortilla is larger. Place seam-side down. Repeat.
Brush or spray. Lightly brush each wrap with oil or melted butter, or spritz with cooking spray.
This gives you that crackly, golden finish.
Air fry in a single layer. Arrange wraps seam-side down in the basket. Don’t crowd—leave a little space so air can circulate. Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping once halfway, until tortillas are crisp and lightly browned.
Check doneness. The cheese should be melted and the tortilla crisp.
If you want extra color, add 1–2 minutes.
Serve hot. Let them sit for 1 minute to set the cheese. Add toppings like mustard, ketchup, or hot sauce. Slice in half for easier dipping.
