Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Give it a few minutes so the basket is hot. This helps sear the patties quickly.
Mix the beef and seasonings. In a bowl, gently combine ground beef, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Don’t overwork it or the patties can turn dense.
Form four equal patties. Make them slightly wider than the buns and about 1/2 inch thick. Press a shallow dimple in the center to prevent puffing.
Lightly oil the air fryer basket. A quick spray or a wipe prevents sticking and helps browning.
Cook the patties. Arrange in a single layer. Air fry for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway.
Aim for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for well-done beef. Adjust time based on thickness and your air fryer model.
Add the pizza toppings. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of sauce over each patty, then add mozzarella and pepperoni. Air fry another 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Toast the buns. Brush the cut sides with olive oil or butter.
Pop them into the air fryer for 1–2 minutes until lightly crisp. For extra flavor, sprinkle with Parmesan before toasting.
Assemble the burgers. Place patties on buns, add a little extra sauce if you like, and finish with basil or red pepper flakes. Serve hot.
