Air Fryer Peanut Butter And Jelly - A Crispy, Cozy Upgrade

Prep Time10 minutes

Total Time18 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • Bread: White, wheat, brioche, or sourdough (thick slices toast beautifully)
  • Peanut butter: Creamy or crunchy (natural or classic)
  • Jelly or jam: Grape, strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite
  • Butter or cooking spray: For a golden crust (optional but recommended)
  • Optional add-ins: Banana slices, honey, cinnamon sugar, mini chocolate chips, or a pinch of flaky salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 370°F (188°C) for 3 minutes. A preheated basket helps the bread crisp faster.
  • Assemble the sandwich: Spread peanut butter on one slice and jelly on the other. Keep the layers thin and even to prevent leaks.
  • Seal the edges lightly: Press the slices together and run your finger or a butter knife around the edges to help keep the filling in place.
  • Butter the outside: Lightly butter the outer sides of the bread or spritz with cooking spray. This yields a crisp, golden finish.
  • Air fry: Place the sandwich in the basket. Cook for 4–6 minutes, flipping halfway. It’s done when both sides are golden and the center feels warm.
  • Rest briefly: Let it sit for 1 minute. The filling is hot and will set slightly, making it easier to slice.
  • Slice and serve: Cut in halves or triangles. Add a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar if you like.
