Ingredients

  • Low carb tortillas: Use your favorite brand. Look for ones that are soft and flexible so they cut cleanly and crisp well.
  • Oil: Avocado oil or olive oil works best for flavor and high heat. You’ll only need a light brush or spray.
  • Salt: Fine sea salt or kosher salt for even seasoning.
  • Seasonings (optional): Chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, black pepper, or a squeeze of lime after cooking.
  • Cooking spray (optional): Helps with even coverage if you prefer spraying over brushing.

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 350°F (175°C). Preheating helps the chips crisp quickly and prevents sogginess.
  • Prep the tortillas: Stack 2–3 low carb tortillas and cut them into 6 or 8 wedges per tortilla, like a pizza. Keep the stacks tidy for even pieces.
  • Lightly oil: Place the wedges in a bowl. Brush or spray with a small amount of oil—just enough to coat. Too much oil can make them chewy.
  • Season simply: Sprinkle with salt. If using spices, add them now. For an even coating, toss gently with your hands.
  • Load the basket: Arrange the wedges in a single layer in the air fryer. A little overlap is okay, but don’t pile them up. Work in batches if needed.
  • Air fry: Cook for 4–6 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. Watch closely at the 4-minute mark. Chips should turn golden with crisp edges.
  • Finish and cool: Transfer chips to a wire rack or plate to cool for 2–3 minutes. They crisp up more as they cool.
  • Adjust for texture: If a few chips are pale, pop them back in for 30–60 seconds. Repeat with remaining batches.
  • Optional lime finish: For a fresh zing, squeeze a little lime over the chips after they cool, then add a touch more salt.
  • Serve: Pair with salsa, guacamole, nacho cheese, or a creamy yogurt-based dip.
