Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 regular hot dogs (beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based)
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola, avocado, or light olive oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/8 teaspoon cayenne or chili powder for heat
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon brown sugar for a sweet-savory twist
  • Cooking spray (for the basket)
  • Dips for serving: ketchup, mustard, spicy mayo, ranch, or cheese sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. A hot basket helps the chips crisp fast.
  • Slice the hot dogs: Cut into thin coins, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Thinner slices get crispier. Try to keep them similar in size for even cooking.
  • Season: In a bowl, toss hot dog slices with oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and any optional spices. Make sure every piece is lightly coated.
  • Prepare the basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Arrange in a single layer: Place slices in one even layer. Do not overcrowd. Work in batches if needed for the best crunch.
  • Air fry: Cook for 6–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. Start checking at 6 minutes. They’re done when edges are deeply browned and crisp.
  • Rest briefly: Let chips cool 1–2 minutes in the basket. They’ll firm up a bit more as they rest.
  • Serve: Transfer to a plate and pair with your favorite dips. Sprinkle with a pinch of extra paprika or a little flaky salt if you like.
