Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef, ideally 80/20 for juicy burgers
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 4 slices cheese (American, cheddar, or your favorite), optional
  • 4 burger buns, toasted if you like
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles
  • Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayo, special sauce
  • Oil spray (for the basket, optional, if your air fryer tends to stick)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes. A hot basket helps with browning.
  • Mix the meat: In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently mix with your hands until just combined. Don’t overwork it or the burgers can get tough.
  • Form the patties: Divide the meat into four equal portions. Shape into patties about 3/4 inch thick and slightly wider than your buns. Press a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  • Prep the basket: Lightly oil the air fryer basket if needed. Arrange patties in a single layer, leaving a bit of space around each one. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry the first side: Cook for 6 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
  • Flip and finish: Flip the patties and cook another 4–6 minutes, depending on your preferred doneness. For reference: about 4 minutes for medium, 6 minutes for well-done. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
  • Add cheese: If using, place a slice on each patty during the last 30–60 seconds. Close the air fryer to melt.
  • Toast the buns (optional): Remove the burgers and briefly toast buns in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 1–2 minutes.
  • Assemble: Place patties on buns and add toppings and condiments. Serve immediately.
