Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Let it heat while you prep the patties.
Mix the chicken: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Stir gently until just combined. Don’t overmix or the burgers can get dense.
Form patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. With damp hands, shape into patties about 1/2 inch thick. Press a small indent in the center of each to prevent doming.
Oil lightly: Spray or brush both sides with a little oil.
This helps with browning and prevents sticking.
Air fry the first side: Arrange patties in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between them. Cook for 6–7 minutes.
Flip and finish: Flip the patties and cook another 5–7 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty in the last minute to melt.
Toast buns: While the patties rest for 2–3 minutes, toast the buns in the air fryer for about 1–2 minutes or on a skillet.
Assemble: Spread sauce on the buns.
Add lettuce, the chicken patty, tomato, onion, and pickles. Serve hot.
