Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (or sweet paprika)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
  • Your favorite dipping sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. A preheated basket helps the strips brown faster.
  • Slice the chicken: Trim the chicken breasts and slice them into even strips, about 1 inch wide. Aim for uniform thickness so they cook at the same rate.
  • Season well: In a bowl, toss the strips with oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, and cayenne if using. Make sure every piece is coated.
  • Arrange in the basket: Place the strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd. Work in batches if needed.
  • Cook the first side: Air fry for 6 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
  • Flip and finish: Turn the strips and cook for another 4–6 minutes, until the edges are browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Rest briefly: Let the chicken sit for 2–3 minutes to keep the juices in. Squeeze a little lemon over the top if you like.
  • Serve: Pair with a salad, roasted veggies, rice, or wrap them in warm tortillas. Add dipping sauce on the side.
