Instructions

  • Prep the air fryer: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 3 to 5 minutes. Lightly mist the basket with nonstick spray or line it with a perforated parchment sheet.
  • Prep the bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them lengthwise. Keep the halves intact. If the bananas are very curved, you can trim the ends slightly so they sit flat.
  • Flavor boost: Stir the melted butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Brush the cut sides of the bananas with this mixture.
  • Air fry: Place banana halves cut side up in the basket. Air fry for 5 to 6 minutes until the tops are caramelized and the bananas are tender but still hold their shape.
  • Add chocolate: Carefully pull out the basket and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the warm bananas. Air fry 30 to 60 seconds more, just until the chocolate softens and starts to melt.
  • Assemble: Transfer the warm bananas to bowls. Add a scoop of ice cream between the halves. Top with whipped cream, nuts, and cherries. Drizzle caramel or strawberry sauce if you like.
  • Serve immediately: This dessert is best warm, while the chocolate is melty and the bananas are soft.
