Ingredients

  • Hot dogs: Standard beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based. Use bun-length for best fit.
  • Bacon: Thin or regular-cut slices work best for crisping and easy wrapping.
  • Hot dog buns: Classic, brioche, pretzel, or gluten-free.
  • Toothpicks (optional): For securing bacon ends.
  • Optional seasoning: Black pepper, smoked paprika, or a pinch of brown sugar.
  • Toppings: Ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, sauerkraut, pickled jalapeños, queso, or coleslaw.

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes. A warm basket helps the bacon crisp quickly.
  • Wrap the dogs: Starting at one end, spiral a bacon strip around each hot dog, slightly overlapping. Tuck or secure the ends with a toothpick. If strips are short, use 1.5 pieces per dog.
  • Season (optional): Sprinkle a little black pepper, smoked paprika, or a tiny pinch of brown sugar on the bacon for extra flavor.
  • Arrange in the basket: Place in a single layer with space between. Don’t overcrowd. Airflow is key to crisping.
  • Air fry: Cook for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway. Thin bacon finishes closer to 8 minutes; thicker bacon may need 11–12 minutes. Aim for deep golden, crisp edges.
  • Toast buns (optional): Remove dogs and toast buns in the basket for 1–2 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  • Assemble and serve: Slide dogs into buns, add your favorite toppings, and serve hot.
